The Javea U3A has over 1,000 members, the majority of whom are retired foreigners, mostly English, who meet together to form learning groups in over 50 subjects. This year at their last monthly meeting at the Javea Parador, they decided to collect money by holding a raffle, in order to buy Christmas presents for 20 residents of the Xabia Bella home for mentally impaired adults.
This small residential home is situated in the Old Town of Javea. The U3A were also able to buy art and craft materials and games for the residents. An article on the work of Xabia Bella was published in El Levante on 26th November 2009.
The gifts were handed over to the Centre's Director, Raúl Pastor Serra, by Shirley King, President, Paul Wessendorf, Vice President and Elizabeth Collins of the Javea U3A on
10th December.
