A dramatized Tourist Route caled The Treasure of Xabiaproduced by theatre group Amanida Projects, offers residents and visitors an original and amusing opportunity to understand the history of particular places of interest in the town of Javea through the dramatisation of the search for Iberian treasure(found in 1.904) throughout the diferent centuries.
This dramatisation allows the spectators to experience different periods of the history of the town, understand its economy and to meet the personalities most prominent in the Javea's town development. These include: "Domingo Urteaga" who was responsible for the construction of the San Bartolomé church; "San Vicente Ferrer", who preached in the streets to have Mass spoken in Valenciano; "Antonio Bolufer", one of the great men of 19th century in Javea during economic prosperity based on the production of raisins; and "Josep el Campaner" , recognised as a public hero for his bravery against the French .
Fictitious characters also appear in the play: "The Pirates" who attack the town; the "Ghost Lady" who speaks to spirits of people who have lived in Javea; "The Mayor" responsible for the demolition of the town wall and a "Napoleonic soldier".
The story begins in the Tourist Office with the architect "Domingo Urteaga" talking to the stones (from the demolished town wall), followed by a pirate attack, then a debate between the builder of the church and the devout "Vincente Ferrer".
We then move to the "Bolufer House" where "The Mayor" meets "Antonio Bolufer" to discuss building a road and a port using the stones from the wall which has been ruined in the name of progress. Then the scene moves to the Soler Blasco Museum, previously a convent, where the architect and the "Ghost Lady" meet at the "Treasure of Javea"which they are guarding from the French. "Josep el Campaner" is in charge of keeping the chapel of Santa Ana a safe place, but a French soldier appears and arrests the "Ghost Lady", threatening her with a bayonet. Fortunately, just in time, the brave "Campaner" reappears to save the Lady and the treasure.
