Last weekend saw the 5th and final Come & Try It day for children between the ages of 5 to 16 years which was held at the newly formed Javea Bulls Rugby Club.

The last 4 weeks had seen over 125 new registrations of boys and girls who wanted to come along and try out this great sport which not only develops youngsters into good players but allows them to develop mentally and socially, through teamwork and discipline.

Over 5 different nationalities with the majority being Spanish and English took part in different games and all thoroughly enjoyed getting stuck in to what is fast becoming the 'new sport in town'!

After the final whistle blew, children and parents stayed for a family day BBQ with bouncy castle and CoastFM's Simon Moody who played some great music for the remainder of the afternoon. After the BBQ, the presentation of medals and certificates with some sponsor goodies were handed out to each child, who was called up individually to shake hands with the Coaches and Directors of the club, including Xavier Monfort, Nigel Fitzpatrick and Peter Sowerby.

"I would like to thank everyone who has made this day possible and a big thank you to sponsors Continental Wealth Management and estate agents Hamiltons Of London for their generosity and support of such a great event." Sowerby continued, "After the clubhouse was burnt to the ground 24 hrs before this family event, everyone has rallied round and we have managed in the face of adversity to make the day very special for all the children involved. It just goes to show that sport, and especially rugby, brings true team spirit, which I am proud to say will thrive here in Javea for years to come."

Although the culprits have not been identified, the local police are interviewing suspects of the arson attack. For further information regarding the club and future events please see the website www.javeabulls.com or call Stacy on 650 231 013.

RUGBY CLUB APPEAL

In order to get the clubhouse up and running again as quickly as possible we are appealing to the local Javea community for certain services and supplies to be donated so that our Summer Sports Camp can go ahead in August. Materials such as breeze blocks, cement and general building supplies, plus the service of carpenters and electricians, are needed in order to get us back to normal as quick as possible. If you can donate supplies or services then please contact Peter Sowerby on 625 205 125 or Stacy on 650 231 013
