The Department of Social Services in Javea has recently received several donations from associations and groups that have helped guarantee that these holidays are celebrated a little bit better in the homes of disadvantaged people.

In this regard, the staff working in the department and the Councillor in charge, Tere Bisquert, want to show their gratitude to the many individuals and entities that are involved in charity work and prove every day that Javea is a socially-committed town.

Among these charity organisations is the Lions Club of Javea, Denia and Pedreguer, which donated 45 baskets full of staples last week. Another example is  the Xàbia Photographic Association, which has put  the photographs in the exhibition  currently on display at the Museum Soler Blasco on sale to raise funds for the acquisition and training of a dog for an autistic child in the municipality.

The department also wishes to highlight the donation they receive every year the from the Hispanophile Association which goes to needy families, or from business such as Rebaldibeheer SL, Juan Chorro, Pepe Roig and  the various Charity Shops, which have helped to to outfit the occupational workshop for the chronic mentally disabled of Javea (TAPIS).

Finally, Social Services wants to publicly show its appreciation for the groups who  they work  side by side with throughout the year to meet the many needs that arise. The Department would also like to give a special recognition  Caritas of  the San Bartolomé and the Virgen del Loreto (Port) parishes and the Red Cross Local Assembly, groups that are providing tremendous support to overcome the difficult economic times that so many families are facing.
